Shared-Decision Making Committee (SDMC)

The Wisdom High School Shared Decision-Making Committee (SDMC) is established to set, monitor, and evaluate school goals regarding budgeting, staffing, curriculum, planning, and professional development. Aligned with state legislation and Houston ISD board policy, the SDMC unites the community into a structured, collaborative body focused on enhancing student education. The committee meets quarterly, and as needed, to address issues raised by school administration, staff, parents, or community members.

The Head of School serves as the committee chairperson, and a co-chairperson is elected from the school's professional staff in accordance with Houston ISD Board Policy. Each September, school-based members are elected to the Shared Decision-Making Committee via a secret ballot.

Election Regulations and Terms

  • Terms: Elected members serve two-year staggered terms.

  • Early Vacancies: Runner-ups from the September election may fill vacancies that open during the first nine weeks of the school year.

  • Late Vacancies: If a vacancy occurs after the first nine weeks, a new representative is chosen through a special secret ballot election to complete the remaining term.
